ICE HOTEL
EXCURSION ADVENTURES
You can take
part in several excursion adventures when you are in
Jukkasjärvi at the Ice Hotel.
This winter
we offer the following:
(we
recommend you book excursions prior to arrival since they
tend to fill up.)
SNOW-MOBILE
GUIDED SAFARI:
2 persons per
snow-mobile. You will receive a short driving lesson
before the tour begins. A tour for those who have never
driven a
snow-mobile before but definitely want to try! Daily:
9:30 am - 11:00 am
DOG-SLED FROM KIRUNA AIRPORT TO ICE HOTEL:
Our dog-sled driver meets you upon arrival at Kiruna
Airport, separate luggage transportation to Ice Hotel is
included, as is warm outer clothing for the dog-sled
ride.
Time: 1.5 hours
SNOW-MOBILE FROM KIRUNA AIRPORT TO ICE HOTEL:
Your guide meets you upon arrival at Kiruna Airport,
separate luggage transportation to Ice Hotel is included,
as is warm outer clothing for
the snow-mobile tour. You will have a sandwich &
something to drink either before you set off, or en
route.
Minimum 4
persons.
Time: 1½ hours
SNOW-MOBILE TOUR WITH LUNCH:
Guided snow-mobile tour during the afternoon with lunch
in a traditional Sami tent in the wilderness. The lunch
consists of reindeer steak, ham/cheese sandwich, salmon
soup with herbal aioli, blueberry cake and coffee/tea as
well as lingonberry juice for the meal.
Daily: 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
NORTHERN LIGHTS TOUR & DINNER:
Guided
snow-mobile tour in search of the Northern Lights.
Laplander dinner included with sandwich with smoked
whitefish, reindeer steak
stew and fried potatoes, lingonberry jam and coffee/tea
and apple cake, lingonbery juice for the meal. Slide show
about ”Aurora Borealis” as well as interesting
information on these Northern Lights.

SNOW-MOBILE SAFARI TO SAMI CAMP:
Snow-mobile tour of about 45 minutes to the Sami camp of
Sautosjohkka. You are invited to feed the reindeer and
hear about the Sami culture, the indigenous people of the
area. Sami meal included in their tent, consisting of
lightly smoked reindeer steak ”suovas”,
home-baked bread and lingonberry jam andjuice to drink.
Coffee/tea with cake.

OVERNIGHT TOUR TO A WILDNERNESS CAMP:
Snow-mobile tour to one of our wilderness camps for a
night in the wild. Here you as a guest are invited to
take part in the chopping of wood,
opening the ice on the lake, heating of cabins and other
chores in the camp! Sleeping bags and sauna/towels
included in the equipment. Your
dinner consists of: reindeer steak, ham/cheese sandwich,
salmon soup with herbal aioli, blueberry cake and
coffee/tea as well as lingonberry
juice for the meal. A hearty wilderness breakfast the
next morning.
Fridays & Saturdays:

Day 1 to 10:30 am on Day 2.
LEARN TO DRIVE:
(All
Terrain Vehicles (ATV) & Snow-Mobiles)
You will drive ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) and
snow-mobile on an ice track where you learn the basis of
snow-mobile and ATV handling under expert guidance. Hot
drink and cake included.
Daily:

DOG-SLED
TOURS:
There are more dogs than people in Jukkasjärvi and
surroundings! You seat yourself comfortably on the
dog-sled, a quick pull and then you
are off. A short stop for coffee boiled over open fire
and cake.

Time: 1.5 hours
RAIDU-REINDEER SLEDS TO SAMI CAMP:
Traditional tour in reindeer sleds for about 1 hour to a
Sami camp in the wilderness where you will have a glimpse
into the rich Sami culture. You eat a traditional Sami
meal in the ”Lavvo” tent by the open fire,
before it is time to return to Jukkasjärvi.
