Reindeer sled tour, 1 day

This is a genuine and different experience where you really feel the connection between man, animal and
nature. The tour takes place in Sápmi, the land of the Sami people, the indigenous people of this area. You
will get to know the Sami culture, the reindeer and encounter the wilderness and the snow clad winter forest.

Our Sami guide meets us at our hotel in Kiruna and transfer us with minibus to Jukkasjärvi village. We are provided with
warm thermo overalls, shoes and hats before we go to the Sami camp in Sautosjohka. Here we will have our first encounter with the reindeer.
Our guide will have an instruction in how to drive reindeer with sled. Each person will drive their own reindeer sled. We follow our guide on a
track out to the forest landscape.

After driving a while we will stop and make a fire out in the wilderness. A traditional Sami lunch will be
prepared over the open fire while you are sitting around it on reindeer skin. The guide tells us about the Sami
people and their way of living. After lunch our trip with the reindeer goes back to Sautosjohka camp where we
bid our reindeer farewell. A short transfer back to Jukkasjärvi and then to Kiruna.

TOUR DATES: Fridays Jan 07 – April 10, 2011.

MEETING POINT: 8.30 a.m at Tourist office or hotel in Kiruna.

ENDS: 3 – 3.30 p.m in Kiruna.

GROUP SIZE: Minimum 2 persons, maximum 8 persons per departure.

LEADERSHIP: Sami tour guide. English or Swedish language.

MEALS: Lunch is included.

INCLUDED: Warm thermo overall, warm shoes, gloves and hat.Transfer from Kiruna to Jukkasjärvi and back again after the tour.

TOUR CONDITIONS: Minimum age: 12 years, 16 years old to drive your own sled.
