BIKING TOURS AT VESTERÅLEN/LOFOTEN - NORWAY
NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: MAX. 10 PERSONS. Rate include bikes and equiments, maps and baggage transportation between accommodations.

Day 1: Arrival to SORTLAND before Noon. By bus "KÅREBUSSEN" TO Ringstad Feriesenter, new renovated restaurant and Inn with host Lorenzo Cordoba. Here we will have 3-course dinner, get our bikes and equimpents and maps. We inform about the tour for the next day. Rest of the day free for own activities at Ringstad.
Day 2:Tour:
38 kilometer. Ringstad to Kråkberget.
ON Fjordcamp at Kråkberget.Possibility
for those who want to do a longer tour to Nykvåg, (+ 24 km )or
to Hovden. (tot. +36
km..)
The tour will go in flat terain through outside of BÖ, a county with farms and fishing for thousands of years. From the road possible to watch the Island of Lofoten. From Ringstad after about 10. km to Bø Church from 1824. After 14 km. from Ringstad we will arrive to Vinje/ Steine, the shopping center of the community. Coffé shop "God smak", with home cooked food..
At lake "Vinjesjøen" you will find the Sculptu rlandskap Nordland, "Mannen From havet" (The Man from the Sea), by Kjell Erik Killi Olsen. Sculpturen is one of the most special attractions in the community. The sculpture is close to the "Town museum", well worth for a visit.
North for STRAUME, close to the STATOIL PETROL STATION, you can make a short tour to NORDAHLSTRANDA - a beach for bath. From here even a tour to SVINÖYA is possible to do. More than 130 graves from the Stoneage, biggest known Stoneage area in north of Norway.
In Straume, 24 km. from Ringstad, you will find shops, banks and hotel. In the sourrandings good places for bird watching.
After Straume it will be about 7 km. Hovden and Nykvåg, typical fishing villages. Good for cycling even during Night (MIDNIGHT SUN) if you want.
After arrival Fjordcamp, dinner and overnight.
Day 3:Tour 37 or 44 km. From Kråkberget to Smines or Staven.
Today we are biking from Bø kommune to Øksnes. Through the beautiful Ryggedalen and through the "Ryggedalstunnelen".
The road up to the tunnel, along Laggedalsvannet to the 1612 meter lange tunnel is a hard part of the tour, but after passing the tunnel and going the road down to valley, you will find it was worth. After the part the tour will go along the charming Auenfjorden.
After the part it's possible to go by boat From to Skogsöya and Öksnes Gjestegård (Inn) or going on biking to Staven where the host at Øksnes Gjestegård, Fred Meyer, will pick you up by boat for crossing the sea to Øksnes Gjestegård.
Road to Romset 13 km on forest road. Those who want to biking via Staven going on to Frøskelandskrysset and Myre, and Frøskelandsfjellet, with about 3,5 km upwords.
Kirsten og Fred will be the hosts for the night. After a 3-course dinner, we have the possibility to rent Fred and his boat for a fishing tour, trekking on the mountain to Tunstad og Hjellsand, or rent a cano for a paddle tour. Possibility even to take the Hurtigruttten boat m/s Tinden for a round trip in Øksnes Westpart during the afternoon. Interesting places are Tinden og Skipnes, which will offer you an attractiv break..
Day 4: Tour 14 km. From Øksnes to Stø.
After morning together with our hosts Kirsten and Fred, or take the first boat to Myre, and start biking from From to Stø, we can take a tour by m/s Leonora and Whale Watch.
Even possibility for Robbin and bird safari, fishing tours or rafting by rubbit boat. At Stø Bobilcamp possibility to rent boats and fishing equipments. Even this point is very good for Midnight Sun Watching.
We have overnight at new built Gunnartangen, and have our dinner at Lovise's Restaurant Valen.
Day 5:Tour 25 km, Stø to Nyksund.
In Stø possibility for Whale Safari, or going to one of the best beaches in Norway, Skipssand (about 20 minuts walking from Stø), or mounting tour "Dronningruta" from Stø to Nyksund. Or alternate a nice biking tour from Stø to Gisløy.
Some kilometers before Stø, we recommend a short tour to Gamle Langenes at the sea. This was the biggest fishing village in Vesterålen from the middel age.
Afternoon we going on biking to Nyksund road from Stø to Myre again, and after about 13 km we take off for Nyksund. Now it will be 12 kilometer to Nyksund – some part on bad roads but an interesting part of the tour. Stop at Kroknes for a break at a farm, nordlandsgård, from the 1400..
I Nyksund we will wath the sculpture, "Etterbilder".
The tour ends with a fine dinner at "Ekspedisjonen", one of the oldest and best restaurants at Vesterålen manage by german chefs.
Overnight at "Ekspedisjonen", and during the evening possibility to visit some galleries and inns.
Day 6:
After breakfast at "Ekspedisjonen", we are
going back by Kårebussen
to Sortland.
