Winter activities 2011/12
The winter season we offer snowmobile safaris, dog sledding tours and
horse-, moose- and Sami arrangements. All tours below are planned to start at
the first date ICEHOTEL opens, unless otherwise indicated. Minimum number of participants on all activities are two persons.

Snowmobile
40 KLICKS OF FREEDOM
Learn to master the vehicle that gives you a sense of freedom
out of the ordinary on a 40 km long snowmobile safari in Lapland’s virgin
forests.

Northern lights tour
In cooperation with the Swedish Institute of Space
Physics we offer a snowmobile excursion in search of the magic northern lights
where our trained guides during the excursion will tell you truths and
tall tales about the mythical celestial phenomenon. A three-course dinner with
local ingredients served in a wilderness camp is included.
Daily: 7pm-11pm
until March 28, 8pm-12pm between March 29 and April 20.

arctic Wildlife safari
In collaboration with the Swedish University of
Agricultural Sciences and the ICEMoose project this safari takes you through
some magnificent mountain sceneries along with a local guide. Learn about the
animals living in the Lappish mountain world, how to trace their tracks and
about the climate prevailing at the foot of Sweden's highest mountain, Kebnekaise. Transfer and lunch with local ingredients is
included.

overnight tour
Surrounded by dense, snow-covered forests this guided
snowmobile tour will take you to one of our wilderness camps with access to a
wood-fired sauna where we spend the night. Dinner and breakfast is included.
Departures: Friday and Saturday 5pm. Back around 10 am the next day.

DOG SLED
the story of huskies
Take a seat in the sled, experience the excited and howling
dogs, and then the silence when the journey begins. Coffee and cake over a
campfire is included.

everyday life of a musher
An exclusive excursion where you get an insight in a
musher’s everyday life by helping your guide and which will take you to the
isolated wilderness camp located off the beaten track. Transfer and a

At the foot of
Sweden’s highest mountain, Kebnekaise, we ride our
Icelandic horses out into the moose’ winter grazing land in search of the king

northern lights tour
Together with our Icelandic horses we ride out into
the winter night and hopefully both see the northern lights and moose. Transfer

Sami Culture
Ráidu
Join our Sami guide to the reindeer camp for an
encounter with the reindeer and Sami (Lapp) culture. Short reindeer sled ride
around a track. Transfer, coffee and a sandwich, servered
in a Sami tent are included.

vuoján – reindeer sled excursion
Experience handling
and driving your own reindeer with a sled in Lappland’s
virgin forests. Back at the reindeer camp you feed the reindeer, and then you get
served a traditional Sami lunch. Transfer is included. Age

Overnight tour with reindeer sled – 4 days
Dive deep into a winter world far away from your every day life. Get to know your own reindeer that you will

grazing land. 2 nights at Reindeer Lodge with sauna. 1 night in lávvu, a tee-pee like tent.

ICEMoose
An activity that is part of the project ICEMoose and

Statistics: The probability to see moose is very high. At most we have seen 62
different moose in one day.

Northern lights, Esrange Space Center &
Dinner under the stars
This tour, organized in cooperation with the Swedish
Institute of Space Physics, takes us in search of the northern lights either to
Esrange Space Center or
Aurora Sky Station located in Abisko. Transfer and a three-course dinner with
local ingredients is included.

ice sculpting
Let yourself be guided into the magical world of ice

this expedition, we focus on the snowmobile. We leave the ordinary trails,
visit our guide’s favorites and select areas after

the arctic fauna and the
lappish cuisine
By
snowmobile we visit the reindeer’s nursery areas, follow the moose’ migration
routes and search for the grouse and capercaillie. We
round off each day with some of the finest delicacies that make up the Lappish
cuisine in one of our wilderness camps. Guide, transfers, accommodations and
all meals are included.

Icehotel and Kebnekaise
An
extraordinary experience that will take you on a snowmobile safari from the
woodlands and the world's largest hotel made of ice and snow to Sweden's

From iCEHOTEL to the arctic
ocean
A snowmobile expedition that takes you from Icehotel to Treriksröset
where Sweden, Norway and Finland meet. We continue
down from the mountain on the Norwegian side of the border to the Arctic Ocean.
We finish the tour with an overnight stay at the Sami family, Päiviö, in the village of Soppero.
Guide, transfers, accommodations and all meals are included.
Length: Five days, four nights, about
550 km.
Departure: 31 March, min six persons

most environmentally friendly snowmobiles.
• We use this year’s
models and our snowmobile park is replaced annually to ensure maximum service,
driver and passenger safety, comfort, technology and driving pleasure.
• The tour is led by
one experienced guide per eight snowmobiles.
• All our guides are
trained and hold the Swedish Transport Board's permission to work as a
snowmobile guide.
• All our guides are
trained in wilderness safety and to prevent frostbite.
• All our guides lead
safety and first aid equipment.
• We offer Kiruna
Municipality's most well-managed and prepared lead which guarantees the highest
safety and comfort for you as a guest.
• Crossing rivers is
always done by us in advance to control the buoyancy.
• Our safety- and
rescue plan for the area is prepared in consultation with the local emergency
services.
• We regularly
contact the Sami villages located within the area to avoid disturbances in
reindeer husbandry.

pay taxes and fees for their employees and also holds
liability insurances.

included in activities are fully insured, both snowmobiles, cars, minivans,

• All vehicles used
in activities are served in branded shops according to maintenance manuals.
• All snowmobiles
used in activities run four-stroke engines for the sake of our environment but
also for the sake of our guides work environment.
• Excesses of
vehicles included in activities alt. for rental (cars) is capped at 8000 SEK.
• All guides are
yearly trained in first aid and how humans react to cold.
• All our vehicles
run on unleaded petrol alt. environmentally friendly diesel.
• All our snowmobiles
are replaced with one year interval.
• If an injury occurs
on a snowmobile it is out of service until it has been repaired and inspected in
order to run on tour again.
• We are responsible
for our surroundings and are therefore using self-prepared and maintained
snowmobile/dog sled trails for the sake of your safety and for the sake of our
guides work environment.
• Warm clothes are
included as a service to you.
• Helmets are
included in all snowmobile tours.
• Helmets are

• We strive to use
local organic ingredients in the food we serve, delivered with as short

Reindeer
Lodge Eco friendly accommodation in the taiga forest. Stay in modern,
comfortable wilderness cabins, right where our activities begin.
Our
Reindeer Lodge is situated just a few kilometres from IceHotel and Jukkasjärvi
village. Here are en enclosures for our reindeers and also the starting point
for most of our activities. The Lodge has a restaurant and for twin bed cabins
(built in 2009). With extra beds the cabins can accommodate up to four persons.
Each cabin is equipped with electrical hating and a wood stow for cosiness. The
restaurant is a timber log building where we serve breakfast and excellent
dinners with local specialities.
To
preserve the wilderness feeling our lodge doesn’t have the comfort of a hotel.
But what is not available in comfort you gain in cosiness. No running water in
the cabins and a common but comfortable toilette compensates with silent
surroundings and candlelight atmosphere. Nature is right outside the door.
